Account coordinator at CoverMyMeds 2.0

At CoverMyMeds, we’re always looking to hire folks who are passionate about helping others and eager to work alongside other hardworking individuals in the healthcare industry.

"Passionate” and “hardworking” are two words that perfectly describe account coordinators at CoverMyMeds. A valued position at our company, our account coordinators work on the front line to help doctors, nurses, pharmacists and their staff take full advantage of our healthcare technology — while also ensuring people get the medicine they need to live healthier lives.

To better understand what our account coordinators do daily, we sat down with a few employees — Ashley, Caleb, Melissa and Lauren — to pick their brains about what the job entails and why it’s such a popular position at CoverMyMeds.

Spoiler alert: They unanimously agree — it’s the people that make CoverMyMeds an incredible place to work.

Can you give an overview of your current role at CoverMyMeds?

Ashley Trede: I’m an account coordinator, which means I help end users who call our support line or click to chat with a representative via our website. They reach out for a variety of reasons — sometimes they need help choosing the correct form; other times they have questions regarding an account feature. I also work on a few other support projects and help train new hires.

Melissa Richardson: As an account coordinator/specialist hybrid, my position is a unique blend of typical account coordinator duties like inbound support for end users — plus I provide internal support for the account specialist team.

Caleb Ray: I’m an account coordinator, which comes with a variety of intriguing duties — inbound support can mean helping an end user successfully submit their first prior authorization (PA), answering questions about CoverMyMeds’ features and benefits and explaining why providers should create an account. On occasion, I’ll even lend an ear to an end user who’s having a rough day. It never gets boring, that’s for sure.

Lauren Schneider: I’m currently an events coordinator on the marketing team — I transitioned from the account coordinator role about six months ago. I focus on planning strategies around our involvement with industry trade shows and conferences. In my new role, I work with all four segments of the CoverMyMeds business.

What’s the best part of being an account coordinator?

Ashley: One of my favorite things is helping our end users. I'm able to assist from the beginning of the PA process to the end. Helping end users also leads to collaborating with different verticals beyond the support team, which is a great way to learn more about every department at CoverMyMeds and how the company runs.

Melissa: At the end of the day, the work we do helps people get the medicine they need to live healthier lives. There are a lot of jobs out there, but not all of them provide that level of satisfaction.

Lauren: It’s such a fun group of people to work with. It’s always a great time because there are always great people around you.

Do you feel like you have the tools and support you need to grow at CoverMyMeds?

Lauren: Yes! My goal from day one was to learn more about the healthcare industry and use that knowledge to advance my career. With the support of my supervisor, I met with coworkers from each vertical to learn how the work we do affects their day-to-day jobs and how we collaborate with marketing to accomplish objectives. That's how I found my way to marketing.

It was great learning the nitty-gritty of PA as an account coordinator. I gained first-hand experience about how CoverMyMeds makes providers’ lives easier and patients’ lives healthier. I hadn’t worked in healthcare before, so I learned what the company does by doing what the company does. Now when I go to trade shows, I’m very equipped to talk about CoverMyMeds when providers ask about our benefits and solutions.

Caleb: I started working at CoverMyMeds as an account specialist and transitioned within the department to an account coordinator. I couldn't have done that without the support and guidance of my supervisor and the rest of the leadership team. One-on-one meetings are standard at any company, but CoverMyMeds makes sure they’re especially valuable for employees.

In my experience, the typical leadership barriers you see at other companies don’t exist here, so it’s not surprising I felt so encouraged to grow in my role. Growth mindsets aren’t uncommon, but we truly embrace ours at CoverMyMeds.

Lauren: The people! It’s an awesome feeling to come to work every day and be surrounded by passionate people who support you and want you to be successful.

Melissa: My coworkers! I love working for a company that employs such intelligent and interesting people. Everyone is helpful and kind. It’s hard to have a bad day when you work with such wonderful individuals.

Ashley: Being surrounded by brilliant, hard-working people who are passionate about their world.

Caleb: The campus, the mind-blowing lunches our culinary team creates and our dedicated and supportive leadership team. However, at the end of the day, it comes back to our growth mindsets: Be Yourself, Do the Right Thing, Embrace Challenges, Results Matter and Be Selfless.
